We have a whopping 35 boats registered for this year’s event!! Thank you to the dragon boating community here in the Pacific Northwest for showing up for Paddle for Life and for our beneficiary, Camp Mariposa. We have teams coming down from Puget Sound and up from Salem—and lots of places in between.
Our races will be FAST 250-meter heats in 10-person dragon boats. These shorter heats are a lot of fun for teams—and unpredictable–as some teams are better at endurance and some are better at sprints. It’s a lot of fun for spectators to watch the dragons fly! Ridgefield will also be hosting a farmers market and an arts fair with transportation between our event and these other events.
Our event would not be possible without the support of the City of Ridgefield and the Port of Ridgefield; our sponsor, Western Forest Products; an advertiser, Washington Army National Guard Recruiters; our friends in community service, Castle Farms; and generous donors of tents and waste receptacles, NW Natural Gas and Waste Connections, respectively. More to come about our beneficiary, sponsors, and teams. Paddles up!
