Some Friendly Competition

Do you want to race a dragon boat and experience the thrill of moving a boat full of your friends down a 250-meter course to the finish line? Here’s your chance to do just that. All community teams will get one practice time to learn how to paddle a dragon boat. Seriously though, if you can paddle a canoe, you can probably learn to dragon boat. Get your team together and register today! Then show up on race day to earn some hardware (medals) and support a great organization, Hope 311.

Beneficiaries

This year’s beneficiary is Hope 311. Mental health and suicide prevention are both critical to ensuring a healthy community. The pandemic of 2020 took its toll on everyone in our community, but most of all, it impacted those who were already struggling for various reasons. Now more than ever, it’s important to provide relief and critical assistance to those who were impacted by the pandemic. Let’s help Hope 311 step up and provide those in our community who are hurting the help they need. A healthy community is a strong community!

Pets

Please be mindful that this event is for everyone, including pets! Pets should be on a leash, do not bring pets down by the water where people are racing, and please ensure you clean up after your pet. Let’s make sure everyone has a good time!

Parking

There is plenty of parking space at Lake River! Volunteers will direct you to the appropriate place to park in the grass. Parking is free, but donations are always welcome!

Race Location

We’re excited to partner with the city and port of Ridgefield in hosting the event at Lake River. The venue provides a wonderful large, open space, and the race course is perfect for shorter races. The city is home to the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, fishing, boating, and numerous parks and trails. No wonder it is referred to as “your gateway to exploring nature.” We can’t think of a better place to have this event.
