The top individual fundraiser will be awarded the new Kindle 3G+Wi-Fi, valued at over $189!

No time for reading?  There are more prizes for our top fundraisers.  Runner up will receive a $100 Visa Gift card.  Third highest individual receives a $50 Visa Gift card.  Every participant who raises money for the event will be entered in a drawing for one of four $25 Visa Gift cards!

The team that raises the most money will win next years Ultimate Team Tent Experience.  Check out the monster tent where last years top team, Xilinx, will be chillin'.  They'll be relaxing in 400 square feet of luxurious pampering.  Catered food and beverages, team masseuse, prime finish line viewing and more!

We challenge every paddler to raise $100 or more and every team to break the $1,000 mark.  Check with your company and see about matching donations.  Send out a quick email to everyone in your address book and they can donate on line with just a click of the mouse.  Go hit up that guy who always guilts you into buying the candy, cookies and wrapping paper for their kids soccer team.  Every donation is tax deductible and no matter how large or small it benefits the American Cancer Society.

Part of Paddle for Life’s mission is to raise money for local charities. To help generate enthusiasm and in the spirit of competition Paddle for Life has created the Fundraising Competition!

Race registration fees pay for the racing and the event, but leaves little money left over for the beneficiaries. In order to maximize the charitable contribution we are including a pledge contest. We ask every team and every participant to help raise an additional $1,000 per team. That is the equivalent of about $100 per paddler. It is very simple. Talk with your friends, family and co-workers and ask them to donate $20 to $50 each. The gift is tax deductible and stays in the community to help people in need. We will be recognizing the team that raises the most money with the coveted “ULTIMATE TEAM TENT” for the following year. We will also have a special prize for the top three individual fund raisers.  Teams and individuals may enter their donation through 4PM the day of the event.

Thank you for supporting Paddle for Life!

Here is an easy text that you can copy and paste to the body of an e-mail to send to friends, family, and co-workers...

Dear friends and family,

All of us have been touched in some way by cancer.  Some are more fortunate than others, but no matter the outcome every person who is affected needs support along the way.  Personally, I have been fortunate, but there are thousands of people in the Bay Area who are not.  According to American Cancer Society estimates, over 157,000 Californians will be affected by cancer this year.  That is more than any other state.  In fact it represents over 10% of all cancer cases in the USA for 2010 and this estimate is probably low.

I need your help.  I am participating in an event called Paddle For Life.  It is a dragon boat festival and race that benefits the American Cancer Society (Northern California).  The event is August 21st in Foster City and it’s a great festival!  No matter how big or small, please consider making a contribution at the Paddle For Life fundraising page:

http://www.firstgiving.com/paddle4life.

All donations are passed directly to the beneficiary; Paddle for Life makes sure of that.  This year we hope to raise $30,000 to help our friends and neighbors in the Bay Area beat cancer.

Please help me fight cancer - we can do it one donation at a time. Again, the fundraising page is at: http://www.firstgiving.com/paddle4life, just put my name in the comment section.  You can also send a check directly to Paddle for Life, just put my name on the memo line.
