Performance/Entertainment Application

We are now accepting applications for Performers & Entertainers!

Paddle for Life is looking for entertainers and performers that showcase traditional and contemporary performances that have a base in the Asian American culture. Examples of entertainment are demonstrations, dance, and music.  To apply for a stage spot please fill out the Performance Application and send in a short audio/visual recording.  Community groups and school are encouraged to apply!
We will be notifying performers by July 14th of their acceptance and all the information they will need for the day.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: July 31, 2010, 11:59pm.
All materials must be postmarked by this date.

GUIDELINES:

  • Performance Stage will begin at 10AM- 4:30PM.  Please do not be late. Allow extra time for parking, crowds and packed dressing room.
  • Minimum of 4-6 performers for dance groups. Demonstrations and music can consist of less.
  • No costume changes allowed, must perform continuously for their set.
  • Must be dressed and ready to perform at least 1/2 hour before performance time.

It is up to the group/performer to provide any and all other equipment.

Flying Angels Dance Company
Hometown: San Francisco, CA

  The FLYING ANGELS DANCE COMPANY, based in San Francisco, have been performing in the Bay Area for over 15 years.  The company is 25 members strong~ with a Baby Angel division, Little Angel and Teen Angel division, and Big Angel Performing team.  They have danced at the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco City Hall Rotunda, and the Academy of Science.  In 2000, they participated in the Grand Opening of the S.F. International Airport.  The FLYING ANGELS specialize in dynamic "mini-shows" featuring a colorful repertoire that intergrades traditional dance with contemporary flair.

  

Kaiaulu
Hometown: San Francisco

  Kaiaulu was established in 1989 by Michael Yamashita in San Francisco to contribute to the preservation and perpetuation of Hawaiian music, dance, and culture in the Bay Area

Bio Tones
Hometown: Bay Area

  The Bay Area’s very own Fabulous Bio Tones bring their eclectic mix of rock, blues, and jazz to the Paddle for Life in Foster City, CA.  The energetic and fun Fab Bio Tones bring a mix of soulful covers from the 60s-90s, with a few originals rounding out the mix.  They favor tempo, danceable songs that will make it tough to stay seated.  The Fabulous bio Tones have been a fixture on the club and party scene for the last couple decades.

 

Harsanari
Hometown: San Francisco, CA

    Harsanari is a San Francisco-based Indonesian dance company founded in 1997 to promote an appreciation of Indonesian dance in America through both participation and performance.  Under the leadership of Michael Ogi, Harsanari focuses on the classical and folk dance forms of West Java and West Sumatra.  Harsanari performs regularly at cultural events throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond, including the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival, San Francisco Indonesian Day, the Oakland Chinatown StreetFest, and the Portland Indo Heritage Reunion.  Classes are offered for both men and women.

 A Touch of Polynesia/ Te Vevo Vevo O'Tahiti
Hometown: Daly City, CA 

  We are an Ohana-based performance group established in 1986, presenting dances and out own style of live music from the islands of Hawaii, Tahiti, and New Zealand.  Each of our members-dancers and musicians alike- brings a diversity of experience and talent to the group that have been developed and nurtured through many years of learning, competing and performing with various award-winning hula halau, Tahitian, and musical groups.  Together we are “A Touch of Polynesia/ Te Vevo Vevo O’ Tahiti.
